Such great wisdom and very much needed! I have always struggled with math and during college I knew I would need help getting through my required math class. I ended up taking the lesser of all the evil math courses; probability and statistics. Each grading period and exam dealt with math formulas that built on each other throughout the course. But my professor did an amazing thing! If I “failed” a concept on the first exam, but got it right on the next exam, he went back and adjusted my first exam grade. He used statistics to track whether I learned the concepts. Cool, huh?! I was surprised what I learned from each mistake, and unbelievably I earned a good grade in a dreaded course!
One of my greatest learnings in life is: “There’s nothing wrong with making a mistake, as long as you learn from it.” Great column, Jody!!
